Arm.wool at MitOst Festival in Vanadzor: Connecting Culture, Creativity, and Sustainable Futures
Arm.wool participated in the MitOst Festival in Vanadzor, joining a diverse community of people from culture, creative industries, civil society, and other fields to exchange ideas, explore new perspectives, and build connections through creativity and collaboration.
During the festival, participants had the opportunity to discover the world of Armenian wool firsthand — exploring new skills, creating with their own hands, and experiencing the traditional process of wool processing together. Through this interactive experience, wool became a bridge between cultural heritage, creativity, and sustainable living.
Rooted in Armenia’s rural traditions, wool holds significant cultural, environmental, and economic potential. Yet much of the country’s wool remains underused. Through the Arm.wool initiative of the Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF), we are working to reconnect Armenia’s wool value chain, preserve traditional craftsmanship, and create new opportunities for rural communities.
MitOst Festival provided a valuable space to demonstrate how a traditional natural resource can inspire creativity, encourage collaboration, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Throughout the festival, Arm.wool shared a simple message: Armenian wool is more than a traditional material — it is a valuable resource connecting nature, cultural heritage, and community livelihoods.
By bringing people together through hands-on experiences and shared learning, Arm.wool continues to explore new possibilities for transforming underused wool into lasting social, cultural, environmental, and economic value.
