Welcome to ArmWool - Bringing Armenia’s Wool Heritage Back to Life
We’re thrilled to welcome you to ArmWool’s first blog post - and to invite you into our growing community that cares about wool, tradition, and people.
ArmWool is more than just a brand, it’s our heart and history. It’s a mission to reconnect Armenia’s age-old wool craftsmanship with today’s world. From local farms to family workshops, we’re working to revive a tradition that runs deep in our culture - and to build a more sustainable future along the way.
Inspired by the World, Rooted in Armenia
The idea for ArmWool actually sparked far from home - in Sri Lanka, where we saw communities doing something incredible: turning banana fibers, which would otherwise be waste, into beautiful, sustainable textiles.
It made us think: why can’t we do the same in Armenia, with our own underused wool?
And so, ArmWool was born - inspired by a global vision, but deeply rooted in Armenian land and tradition.
From Local Sheep to Your Hands
Our wool begins its story in the mountains and fields of Armenia in Darik. It’s carefully sheared from local sheep, then washed, carded, spun, and dyed right here - by talented hands that preserve techniques passed down through generations.
We’re proud of the fact that every step is traceable. Thanks to a simple, transparent system, you can see exactly how our wool travels from raw fleece to finished yarn. That means you’re not just buying wool; you’re investing in real people and real stories.
Supporting Communities & Traditions
In Amasia, we’ve helped launch a spinning center that gives local families new opportunities, right in their own community. Across Armenia, we’re partnering with women artisans - rug weavers, knitters, helping them turn traditional skills into stable, dignified work.
By choosing ArmWool, you’re helping these small communities grow stronger, and keeping beautiful old crafts alive.
Sharing the Journey
If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably seen little glimpses of our work: fleece drying in the sun, carders turning soft wool clouds, spinners at work, dye pots bubbling with rich color.
We share these moments because we believe you deserve to see exactly where your yarn comes from. Nothing hidden, no shortcuts.
A Sustainable Future for Armenian Wool
We’re also serious about reducing waste. That means using leftover fleece, rug scraps, and offcuts - turning what might be thrown away into beautiful new yarn. It’s our small way of making sure this industry grows responsibly, with respect for both the land and the people who work it.
What’s Next?
This is just the start. We’ll be posting here regularly, sharing stories from the farms, introducing you to the amazing artisans behind the scenes, and offering practical ideas on how you can support sustainable, ethical wool.
In the meantime, come say hi over on Instagram @armwool. Share our story, tag a friend who’d love it, or just drop us a message - we always love hearing from you.
Thanks for being here. Thanks for caring about people, tradition, and the earth. We’re excited to keep weaving this story together - one beautiful thread at a time.
